The real horror is that the extra portion ends up on my plate and I still somehow manage to finish all of it!

Maybe they shouldn’t be gatekept behind ludicrous paywalls then.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Aphantasia... apparently 3% of the world has it. Any aphantasists in here, who've had success improving their condition?
2·3 years agoI was an aerospace machinist in a past life and I’m aphantasic. Never was it a hindrance in me making parts. You were just having a conversation with an idiot, which makes sense because shops seem to hire a lot of them.

1·3 years agoNot picking up a pitchfork and joining the mob is now white knighting? Get the fuck outta here with that shit.
I’m not here to defend Blizzard, frankly fuck them and their mismanagement of a great IP, but people are definitely blowing Overwatch’s failure out of proportion and just hopping on a bandwagon.

12·3 years agoI miss seeing policies from other libertarians like this!
So fucking sick of the ancaps and how most people view libertarians as just an extension of conservatives that want small government now. They pretty much took over r/libertarian the last few years and pushed out the “socialist” libertarians.

110·3 years agoI’m making assumptions but I don’t think it’s asinine to assume that they would rather run their service with a constant steady income from a subscription model rather than a one time purchase over the period of half a decade. It would have been one thing if they released paid expansions to the base game every few years but they never did that.
It also doesn’t matter if the company as a whole is profitable if Overwatch itself isn’t. They aren’t Kirkland with the food court hotdogs or rotisserie chickens, as in trying to use Overwatch to pull people into their other games even though it’s a net negative for them to continue to support.

540·3 years agoAnd 7 years after the fact, how is your one time $40 purchase still paying to keep the servers running?
I don’t like the monetary scheme that Blizzard settled on for OW2, I’m never paying $25 for a skin, but the $10 battle pass every 2 months is reasonable in my opinion.
If that battle pass contained all of that season’s cosmetic content and followed a FOMOless scheme more similar to Halo MCC or Deep Rock Galactic, I think most people wouldn’t complain but clearly we have whales that are willing to dump stupid amounts of cash on singular skins.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What is an item below 100 bucks that everyone should own?
2·3 years agoYou’re correct that it isn’t as good of an alternative as flossing but you’re meant to do both.
You should floss, preferably with actual floss and not a pick, and then follow that up with water irrigation. You dislodge food and break up the plaque with the floss and flush it out with the water flosser.

Edit: this is the 2nd time I’ve seen the phrase “free as in free beer” today and decided to look it up because I hadn’t really taken notice of it before. I retract my statement and apologize. You used it perfectly and TIL, so thank you.

7·3 years agoShow me a culture that likes to recognize the war crimes they commited as war crimes.
The Japanese seem to do way more of sweeping their dirty laundry under the rug from WWII under the rug than Americans.
And no, that’s not trying to excuse Americans of acknowledging their own war crimes. Every culture should own their past and do their best to learn from their mistakes.
That was always my understanding of it.
That’s just like, your opinion man!

5·3 years agoI never knew about Linear Mouse, thank you so much!!! I fucking hate how Apple ties scroll direction on mice/touchpad and no, “natural” scroll direction is not natural on a standard mouse Apple.
5 Guys is also twice the price and I would argue that their burgers aren’t actually better than In-n-Out’s. I like thousand island sauce tho, so I’m a bit biased.
Totally agree with you about the Cajun fries, they completely blow away In-n-Out’s fries but their fries set a pretty low bar imo.

People, in general, need to be more perceptive and aware of their surroundings.
