It was coined by ILM in the 70s, a smidge before the Borg.
Probably 24 GB VRAM and 32-64 GB RAM for minimum specs with 4-bit quantization. This is a beefy boi.

3·2 months agoI think I’ll have to trust the Pope on this one, unless you have some comparable credentials?
You have to consider who was writing and what their deal was.
There’s a lot of “and then God told us to do some genocide so we did” along with limited historical support for more than skirmishes.
The later message was much more consistent, as Jesus only got violent with people who used God as a pretext to be selfish (i.e. evil) and definitely knew better.

Vibe coding would be OK for crapping out a prototype that mostly works and will be replaced, except those invariably become the core of production systems.

8·10 months agoIt is unsurprising that coding is the prime example of generative AI’s prowess. Unlike more subjective tasks like writing jokes, code either works or doesn’t. This black-and-white distinction makes it the perfect subject matter for training AI models.
It is unsurprising that non-technical people think this. It’s slightly surprising that VPE/CTO-types are letting CEOs think this.

I don’t think prototype testing really reflects on the market either way. Starship is going to enable new markets, with designs that are currently unlaunchable and incredibly inexpensive tonnage to orbit.
Heavy was deprecated because advancements with F9 made it nearly as capable, and only certain mission profiles require the extra cores. The engineering to adapt F9 into Heavy was onerous enough to make upgraded Heavy not worthwhile for few payloads.
