This is only really true if there will never be a need to really learn the code base — which maybe will be true for most devs, it’s hard to tell. But if not it could leave the majority of juniors with a much shallower understanding of the way things work under the hood.

9·10 months agoNo, it’s better than that. It’s a chromium browser that does the browsing for you!
That’s just how it got funding. It’s meant for memes and shitposts. I’m almost positive.
Never. EVER see this with your parents, even if it is “on Broadway”

13·11 months agoFYI many credit cards will allow you to make virtual numbers which you can then use for individual purchases or groups of purchases. They were originally meant to help combat fraud but I use them for subscription services so that if they give me a hard time about quitting I can simply cancel the card number and file a dispute (which in my few experiences has always gotten me my “overage” fees back)

111·11 months agoI think it’s a fair concern in general but fine in this case since the company almost certainly edited in the lux operon which is one of the most well studied and understood gene switches out there. It and similar pathways have been used in many branches of science for decades. I think the novelty here is just that it’s in a consumer product instead.

I was legitimately wondering about this earlier. You know he’s gonna try and put some kind of loyalty kill switch into these things, so at what point does the government decide they don’t want some random billionaire building out a private army of robots?
