2·2 years agoI wouldn’t think the Wagner group is big enough, or organized enough to take on the US military though.

Technology@lemmy.world•Lots of PCs are poised to fall off the Windows 10 update cliff one year from todayEnglish
131·2 years agoI’ve turned a few older neighbors on to Linux when they complained that window updates caused their PC’s to run too slow.
I’d tell them 'before you go out and buy a new computer, let me install Linux if you don’t like it, you lose nothing. In the end, each one of them was happy their computer was running like new again.

politics @lemmy.world•California accuses ExxonMobil of lying about plastics being recyclable
12·2 years agoI recently bought a pair of pants. The label said they were made from recycled plastic bottles. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Also I’ve seen videos of people in other countries who are making various products with plastic they’ve cleaned up from their beaches.
I use Ghee or Tallow when cooking. Both are solid at room temperature. I wait for the left over grease to cool down, and wipe it up with a paper towel. Easy peasy.

1·2 years agoThe New Republic, an online magazine, was created, and is run by Republicans who are absolutely against Trump and those like him. And then there are the Republicans from times gone by that are even speaking out against him and his.
Edit: hell the acronym RINO , Republican in name only, was created by Trump and company. It refers to republicans who don’t see things his way.

13·2 years agoMalcolm X had many supporters. He was held responsible when just a handful of them committed ‘terrorist’ acts.
Malcolm wasn’t innocent in that respect, but far more so than Trump.
On the last update, I browsed Amazon for some product, and Amazon had a pop up, kind of, that asked if I would like them to weed out fake reviews. Of course I opted in. Had it save me a couple times now.
Sorry for the late reply.

politics @lemmy.world•Trump has 'made clear' he will turn the U.S. military loose on America if re-elected: NYT
17·2 years agoIf he loses and tries to claim a stolen election, project 2025 promising a bloodbath will not go well for any of them. Especially since Trump continues to disrespect military personnel at every turn.
I know there are some maga nuts in the ranks, but last I heard most generals have spoken out against the Trumpet crumpet.
I updated my Firefox browser. Now, when viewing a product on Amazon, Firefox rates the reviews A-F based on whether or not they are reliable.

News@lemmy.world•FDA declines to approve novel MDMA therapy to treat PTSD
17·2 years agoExactly. Up until the early 80’s it was used to treat patients in psychiatric wards. Then Reagan squashed it.
John Hopkins is one of the few research hospitals still allowed to experiment with it, along with psilocybin, and LSD. They have for many years declared positive results with patients who suffered from PTSD, depression, anxiety, etc.
Why not take the cells of farm animals and create steaks, etc?

7·2 years agoYeah but a white person is easier to see in the dark than a black person.

My main worry with Linux becoming more popular is that it will be attacked with more malware and viruses. I wouldn’t mind though if Linux programmers could come up with better protection.
