I don’t think you’ll regret it. The story is incredibly rich and outcomes depend a lot on your choices and playstyles. It never feels like you’re grinding for levels to me. There’s the occasional bug, but no more than other games I’ve played. I think it’s probably the first genre defining game we’ve seen in about a 15 years.

It’s a good game now. I waited over 2 years to buy it and think it’s the best single player shooter I’ve played since Bioshock/HL2. Have completed it 5 times now using different builds and am thinking about getting the expansion if it goes on sale at xmas.

I’m in the Anglo sphere and we call the US the US, it’s citizens ‘US Citizens’ or ‘Yanks’, regardless of state. America is used to refer to the continents.
What you’re describing is a local Americanism and is not globally always true.

Ditto. Windows is now impossible to decrapify. Have dipped my toe in Linux gaming about a half dozen times starting in 2004 but it never felt ready til now. Proton, nvidia drivers and distros like Nobara making it not just possible but a better experience.

IRC, bulletin boards that had links to each other…. The old net was decentralised by default.

Nice to see someone else was around when the lore was written :D
In NZ instead of AOL it was xtra and Paradise.
It’s a sarcastic take on common advice. It’s implied by the inanity of the suggestion. Most people got it, wasn’t something you saw. You’ll get it next time :).

Wholeheartedly agree. Not too many more though I hope. Once a platform reaches a certain point all the general public arrives and everything goes to shit. You have to keep your corner of the internet nerdyish to avoid this. Been true since the early 2000s for forums and then social media.

Confirming, I have 200TB in home lab and know plenty of others with around this amount:
Depends on what the data was for criticality, not the amount of data. Many orgs, even in smaller countries, have petabytes of data now.

Definitely. As a non-US sports fan, where we’ve had television reviews in some sports (cricket) since the 1990s on certain types of plays, this is very welcome to see. The referees should be allowed to let common sense prevail.

Good move imo. Dudes not ready to be Udonis, still wants to compete so moving to a team where he can is the right thing for him.

You’re not wrong but I don’t see what that has to do with my point, which was - don’t blame distros for this. They can influence the conversation but not control it. If you find what you want isn’t supported then pick something that supports most things like Ubuntu, or Nobara.

Driver support is down to the manufacturer. Distros can’t give you things that don’t exist.

North Atlantic accent I think it’s called. Have a read of the wiki. Kinda interesting.

Depends on how fast I’m talking but, yup. South islanders do it more than north ime.
Also great for bee life and other pollinators. The reason they stopped putting it in lawns was because of selective herbicides that kill all plants EXCEPT grass and some marketing fuck-knuckle (string them all up and ban the teaching of marketing) decided that clover had to go so they could sell herbicides that also kill pollinating insects. Happened in the 50s I think.
