Facebook, Twitter and TikTok are far worse than Reddit.
As you said, Facebook was instrumental in at least one genocide. TikTok and Instagram were used to spread propaganda in national elections (it’s been established in Romania I believe). Twitter is massively responsible for the new rise of the spread of Nazi propaganda.
So yeah, Reddit is pretty bad but not in the same scale as these (Boston Bomber, the jailbait debacle, the IPO, etc.)

Yeah that’s pretty much his stance. AI tools like GPT or Gemini gave a bunch of non-developers the power to review things they don’t understand, with high confidence it’s the truth. His talk about this at FOSDEM was really insightful.
Well, if the model detected an issue, and a human tested it to make sure it was real and then fixed it, I think that’s an acceptable use of AI tools.

If Oracle and Microsoft crash and burn when the bubble pops, it would be absolutely amazing

Learning and practicing cardiac coherence has helped me a ton too. I do 10/15 minutes a day, it’s really nice to reduce anxiety
If you manage to have executive dysfunction but not worry about it, I think it would be a massive win. You can work your way around it, instead of fighting it and feeling guilty

They’re not wrong though

I absolutely love the fact that we’ll most likely never get rid of stuff like that in AI generated content. There will always be things that are wrong/wonky with it.
The problem is when they start making it acceptable to the masses
Especially when a good senior dev with a good grasp of AI can do wonders.

Did they conspire to kill public transit ? Did big tobacco conspire to falsify health studies ? Did the agro industry conspire to make fat the big bad ? Does the bear shit in the woods ?

Encrypted from your phone to Meta, then from Meta to your contacts!

The thing is, storing data is actually pretty easy, reading it is hard

It’s the de facto standard for many reasons, none of them being individuals’ choices. Microsoft paid and pushed for Windows to become the default OS on pretty much all OEM hardware, they lobbied super hard to push people into using Office, they gave massive discounts on licences for corporations, big and small companies.
It has nothing to do with individual choices, it created the problem you mentioned in your comment though. People just became complacent and ignorant because of that, not the other way around.

Colour me surprised!

German carmakers lobbying probably
I haven’t done this in a while, but I think that’s the correct procedure: https://utho.com/docs/linux/debian/how-to-reset-debian-root-password/
Meh. That’s doomerism, we have plenty of leeway to turn around and do what’s right. Apathy and nihilism are what got us into this situation.
