Weird. There is a movie that’s been out for more than 4 weeks, has banked over $200M domestic, and this is the first time I’ve ever even heard of it. Maybe my adblocking working better than I thought?

Not sure excel ever gives that sensation.
I do both manual labor, and what most non-IT people would call “IT” at my job. I’d guess it’s about a 30/70 split for me during an average year.
Working in Excel can 100% result in that sensation of immense satisfaction if you’re working with the right type of data, and you’re able to build something complicated and beautiful. Most people are just putting numbers in order or doing basic accounting. But, if you learn enough, working in Excel (or google sheets) can become, more or less, programming.
It is definitely my favorite thing to do at work if I can block out enough time to do what I want.
If a few more CEOs gets off’d, they’ll ram gun control legislation through congress faster than Trump can wolf down a Big Mac.

We stumbled upon this, more or less by accident, maybe a decade ago. It immediately entered the annual holiday movie cycle. I think it’s one of Henson’s best works. 10/10!

YES—I’ve been saying this for years! If any politician actually believed any of the bullshit they say about illegal immigrants stealing jobs and ruining industries, they could instantly stop it by placing heavy fines on employers who are caught hiring them. There is no penalty big enough to block out the giant glowing neon “help wanted!” sign on the US side of its southern border. Politicians would rather spend millions breaking up families, and imprisoning children than slap a fat fine on some construction and agriculture companies.

The way this article is framed sounds like bullshit to me. 18.1 was released less than 2 weeks ago. Any phone running this version of iOS would have had to already been in custody and somehow upgraded to this version, or otherwise brought into custody very recently—too recently for this to have already posed such a problem that law enforcement is “freaking out” and reporting it to the media.
I drive past a nearby house a few times a week that has one of these signs in the yard. It makes me smile every time.

I’m in the US. House values in my neighborhood have doubled since 2017 (7 years). Things are the same where the rest of my family lives, 11 states away. Are we not in a boom?

There are dozens of us. Dozens!

Patriot, on Amazon streaming. I’ve been telling people for years—it’s the BEST show that NO ONE watched.
A depressed deep-cover operative sings bleak folk songs about his job at open mics. Stylistic elements (both visual and writing) from the Cohen brothers and Wes Anderson. Incredible cast. Funny. Sad. Two seasons, and both are great. 10/10

Which one has been best? I’m only a hobbyist, but I’ve found Claude to be my favorite, and the best UI by a mile.

Interesting. I have no problems with either Reddit or Facebook. I can’t comment on either irs.gov or Ticketmaster. I have no history with either.

I tolerate the many issues large sites have displaying in Firefox because…
With which sites are you seeing these issues? I don’t think I’ve seen Firefox have a problem rendering a website any differently than chromium in many years.

I’ve been using Claude pretty heavily for the last couple of months and have been very satisfied. More satisfied than I was with ChatGPT for mostly helping me cobble together various powershell scripts, or troubleshoot complicated and complex excel formulas. The latter, I am often doing as part of my job, and have been for a decade. So, when I run into trouble it’s usually deeep in the weeds, and Claude has saved me several hours of manual investigation by pointing me quickly to the problem areas to examine. The only thing I wish it had is image generation, but that would mostly just be for making joke images to send to friends and coworkers.
Edit to add: While I do prefer the info I receive from Claude more than ChatGPT for my use, I think it’s actually the interface that I find much more useful. I forget what they call the programming interface that you turn on in settings somewhere, but I really like how it breaks out all the code on the right side, separate from the conversation.

Thankfully, I’m not completely void of any sewing skill. I can hem pants, or repair some outdoor gear, as you mentioned. But, I don’t think I could make a complete shirt that didn’t look homemade.
I have a massive wingspan:weight ratio, so I always have to choose between sleeves being long enough on a shirt that’s 4x too big, or sleeves that end 3 inches short on a shirt that mostly fits. If I could make my own shirts and hoodies from scratch, it would be great. I just have too many other hobbies, and not enough time to dedicate to learning a new one right now.

I guess it’s cultural, or regional, or just who you spend time around. Among my male friends, most of whom are straight and married with children, I don’t think any of them would even blink an eye at either of these things.
I do have colleagues from other cultures and US regions (US Italian, Central America, rust belt) who I’d bet would act the way you describe. I’m not jealous of that aspect of those cultures.

i can sew my own clothes and bake?
Weird. Creepy.
Hard disagree. I wish I knew how (and had the time to) make my own clothes. And, who doesn’t love baked goods? These both sound awesome.
QuinnyCoded is the OP of this thread. I’m guessing your client indicates this with the white box.
The person QuinnyCoded replied to (aeharding) is probably a mod (I’m guessing?), making their name show up blue in their client.
Update: I figured out that @[email protected] is the dev for Voyager, the lemmy client modeled after the Reddit app “Apollo”. So their name shows up kind of purple/blue in the Voyager app (which is my preferred client as well!).
