2·2 years agoWell that’s disturbing to hear. I figured if they’ve been around that long they’d have worked out effective tools to combat that stuff. But I suppose that might be a naive assumption, it must be a constant issue for image hosting services.

6·2 years agoThat being said we would like input in what image sites we will be whitelisting.
I’d like to suggest postimages(dot)org. I’ve been using that site since leaving reddit/imgur over the summer. They seem to be a good free service (although they do offer a premium tier) and according to their ‘about us’ section they’ve been operating for 20 years.
How is anybody supposed to keep up with so many forks?

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Are there any people who were offended by Norm MacDonald's comedy? Was he controversial, or nah?
89·2 years agoDon Ohlmeyer for one. He’s the NBC executive who had Norm fired as SNL’s Weekend Update anchor because he wouldn’t stop mocking Don’s friend, famous double murderer, O.J. Simpson.

32·2 years agolemmy.world is been long defederated with it (which means that you don’t see it) yet you continue to think this is a problem…
I’m on a backup account because instances running 0.19.1 aren’t federating properly so my main isn’t able to post. Not that it’s any of your business in the first place. Now take your bot spam instance, and your vote manipulating alts, and get lost.

33·2 years agoYep, Alien.top has over one million accounts alone and they’re all crossposting Reddit spam bot accounts.
More instances need to defederate from that spam instance. Because no matter how many people explain why the project isn’t actually helpful nor does it add real value to Lemmy the person behind it is utterly convinced he’s the smartest person in the fediverse and we all just need to learn to love his spam.
