Well if you remember from school, energy is defined as the capacity to do work. And if the rising steam does the work of turning a turbine, it’ll have a lot less kinetic energy left afterwards and won’t rise nearly as far.

My understanding is that this is because it’s a dopamine problem. Some (many?) ADHD folks are wired such that they only function when their brains’ reward centers are getting pinged. That’s why they struggle with chores or bills or other ‘adult’ tasks that require focus but no feeling of reward or satisfaction until much later. According to my partner it’s a source of a tremendous amount of guilt and self-esteem problems.

No dispute from me there. The system is immensely fucked and it might take a long, long time to fix. But the reality here and now is that getting pretty much any kind of service requires paperwork and callbacks and all the other BS.
