  • I’m sure you’ve read Bevins work but if not those two are good

Aberration in the heartland of the real is fun

I liked anti-eodipus and a thousand plateaus. As far as non-Marxist, non-revolutionary, euro-leftist philosophy goes, they’re pretty fun.

On the other side of Marx, Hegel is also worth studying. Maybe moreso actually, since I think western leftists tend to misunderstand Marx because they don’t understand dialectics (and deleuze has been accused of such lol). I’ve heard it said that Lenin went back to Hegel to rescue Marx from the reformists (or something along those lines) and I’m beginning to suspect that may be necessary for modern theoretical struggles.

Kotkin is an anticommunist so I suppose his biographies of Stalin might count as non-Marxist lol

  • Ventpost aside, I think as leftists we need to be comfortable reading people with bad takes. Check Lenin’s or Stalin’s or Mao’s libraries, they both read voraciously and critically-- liberals, anarchists, ultras, fascists, idealists. Analytical development comes from analytical practice, not a study of perfect truths.

That being said, the labor to record an audiobook is something else so I understand that frustration. I’ve gotten a lot of value from listening to and sharing your other recordings, and your criticism in this post is also educational.

In this case I’ll take your word for it, from your description it sounds like there isn’t much to be gained by reading a book that rife with disinformation. Your post just reminded me of something that’s been on my mind recently. There’s got to be a balance between not wasting time on nonsense books versus critically investigating things for ourselves to hone our own critical thinking skills.

My comment itself is probably a ventpost from my time trying to get by in a Trot org lol, some of the most anti-intellectual dogmatists I’ve ever had the displeasure of interacting with. Refused to read anything that wasn’t published by their cult org, talked like Lenin and Trotsky were divine besties. Some of them bragged about having not read Capital lmao.

  • I wonder if it had been infected prior to the vaccination. Depending on the location of the bite/scratch it can take months for symptoms to begin to show.

I know potential vectors are everywhere, but I’d also imagine there being more wild animal interaction in Georgia than Chicago.

If that’s not the case, then failed vaccine administration/storage or immune system defect seems likely. After all, even the best vaccine isn’t an immutable magic cure, it’s just a method to prime an immune system for a specific pathogen. If the immune system is compromised or the vaccine dose defective (got too warm, was expired, poorly administered, etc) then it’s not gonna work as well.
