On the other hand, good range and not a Tesla.

2·5 months agoTo each their own. I don’t dislike the industrial design. I particularly like the tail lights.
The chrome plastic on the bumper and the drive mode selector are what feel the weirdest to me. They look cheap. Poor material selection.

Electric Vehicles@slrpnk.net•Nissan Leaf starts at $29,990 in the USEnglish
8·5 months agoI think that’s an intentional optical illusion. The black trim on the bottom goes pretty high up, and the trunk curls up from the ground quite a bit, and there is a higher up protrusion on the front bumper that makes the the bumper look higher than it is. The combination of those three things make the eye follow a base line that’s higher than what actually exists.
My guess is that they waned smaller wheels and a lower ride, but they know Americans like crossovers and big wheels, so they did some magic tricks with the trim.
IMHO, it kind of works. It fooled me until I really started scrutinizing it.

politics @lemmy.world•Opinion | The unfair prosecution of Hunter Biden is over — finallyEnglish
3·1 year agoYes, I think proper sentencing / punishment should be contextual.
If you’re battling a disease that affects your behavior, you should be given leniency if you can prove that you have a care plan in place. Lots of places do this. Some formally, some informally.
Hunter would’ve likely been treated with more leniency if he wasn’t the presidents’ son. I see LOTS of poor and middle class people, on a weekly basis, that have gotten in trouble for similar stuff, and they’ve been able to get right with the court / prosecutor and move on quickly.

31·1 year agoEnforce, but use context.
He should he treated as any other coke addict that is in court in Delaware and is actively in a recovery program. Meaning, the gun thing should’ve been resolved with a plea deal, community service time and forced attendance of outpatient care / verified recovery meetings.
And the stuff while in the throes of addiction? Similar plan, but with a plan to pay back taxes.
In and out. Resolved in a few months.

42·1 year agoThe problem is also that he’s the target of a bunch of right wing conspiracy theories that routinely fall flat under investigation… but Trump is about to put a bunch of lackeys and conspiracy nuts into the Justice system.
Homie could end up going to jail for bullshit just like Putin’s political opponents and their families go to jail in Russia.

24·1 year agoAs any musician will tell you, you don’t really need sight to play. Learning to play without looking at the instrument is pretty important.
The biggest challenges are with how to learn / write new pieces since you can’t look at written notation. Stevie Wonder “wrote” by recording and playing back tracks. A surprising amount of sighted musicians do the same if they never learned how to read or write notation, or if they just hate doing that.

91·1 year agoHe filled out a gun purchase form and said he wasn’t using. I’ve seen many many poor and middle class people that have had charges dropped or changed to recovery care as long as they were committed to recovery.
If he wasn’t a Biden and was some random dude with a DC public defender, this would’ve been over and a non-issue since he’s been demonstrating that he’s participating in a recovery plan.

61·1 year ago“I unfortunately lost my eyesight in my right eye in July, because I had an infection in the south of France, and it’s been four months now since I haven’t been able to see,” he said at the time, adding that “my left eye is not the greatest.”
John added that there was reason to be optimistic about his eyesight.
“There’s hope and encouragement that it will be OK, but I’m kind of stuck at the moment,” he said. “I can do something like this, but going into the studio and recording, I don’t know.”
