  • OK so I understand the Dutch have a reputation, but if you are making your ride wait on you because you aren’t ready at the appointed time - nevermind the fact that your ride isn’t charging you for gas (one hopes, since OP is going anyway and offered to pick him up, to do so would be just as rude as the coffee) - it would just be too unbelievably outrageous to bill them half a Euro. I have to conclude that this is ragebait.

  • I’m not autistic, nor have I ever gravely injured someone through my own action (or inaction) that I know of, but I will tell you this: I don’t understand how these attention-starved children driving these rice burners with their goddamn POW POW UNF POW exhaust systems (and you fuckers know what I’m talking about) are allowed to exist.

I am not a violent person, but I would read their obituaries with great satisfaction.

  • I’ve been having problems with it misbehaving on this instance for a while, so I know where you’re coming from. Was also having problems on lemmy.world - but they seem to have beaten whatever it was, because it works fine there now. I really can’t stand lemmy’s interface without old so I’ll check back here every few weeks or so to look over the piracy stuff and see if you added it back. Cheers.

Edit: I appear to have found a solution in opnxng! Which is good because I was tiring of .world.

  • I went looking for a picture of it today and got very confused when maps sent me to Australia. There is a rural locale in Australia, named after the battle - Australian soldiers fought in the battle, so that does make sense. What threw me is that the road in the Australian version has a curvature that is very similar to the pictures in the OP:

And yet, this is not the actual Passchendaele. That short circuited my brain for a few seconds this morning, imagining that it had just… never been rebuilt? Wait… part of WWII was fought in Australia? wtf?

Anyway, no. The real deal is in Belgium. It was rebuilt. Here it is (lol):

    How weird is that?
