Buy European@feddit.uk•Pick European ChocolateEnglish
2·3 months agoPlease support Tony’s Chocolonely- they actively work to make sure that their Cocoa suppliers get a living wage, far more than what virtually any other Cocoa buyers pay.
As a bonus, their chocolate is pretty tasty too!

Science Memes@mander.xyz•If proton decay isn't trueEnglish
19·7 months agoElements with a proton number less than or greater than iron become more stable as they approach iron, and so, over very, very long timeframes, from random quantum tunnelling effects, will favour being iron over being other elements.
Thus, in 10^~1500 years, virtually all atoms in the universe will turn into iron, assuming protons don’t decay (which may or may not happen).
Poetry was always about bringing an element of playfulness to language- if it brings you joy, do it.

4·8 months agoWe actually don’t know if distance is quantised- while distances smaller than the Planck length don’t make any sense with our current understanding of physics, that doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s the quantum of distance.

12·8 months agoI take umbrage with the idea that gravity is necessarily quantisable- for all we know, it can’t be quantised.
Is it surprising though? Natural fruit doesn’t have the same shelf life as modern farmed fruit, so it’ll start fermenting in just a few days - add in alcohol having a lot of calories, and so the chimpanzees naturally won’t skip out on it either.

23·9 months agoBottle gourds are still eaten pretty regularly in India, and I suspect, other parts of the world too.
Yep, I just checked Wikipedia, and yes, tons of people around the world still eat it.
There’s a LLE episode about it:
