Damn and I was going to post in this thread that my friend BOUGHT this game for me even though I said I wouldn’t enjoy it, and lo and behold, my girlfriend and I have barely enjoyed outside the prologue of Expedition 33. I’m most of the way through act 2 I think? And I just dropped it. I’ll finish it someday to finalize my feelings but they are pretty negative, and everything i’ve heard from other people is not improving my opinion. Just not my type of game I guess
Yeah I tried Haste last next fest before it’s release too…just judging off the demo, it’s a good idea but not my kind of game. The roguelike mechanics don’t really add that much to the whole game, you’re still going to be doing practically the same thing.
But it was fun enough, just not enough to get me to buy it.
Astral ascent just got a new 2.0 update for like 10 bucks. Great little roguelite and I’m excited to play it again with the new content when I get home.
I find that FF16 (which might now be my favorite FF just for the moments and music) is a game of very high highs and very low lows, scored with an insanely incredible soundtrack that keeps me listening and remembering all the best moments over and over again.
I find looking back on those moments as so much fun really helps me overlook the plethora of issues the game has, the relatively boring exploration and side quests, the lack of party members etc. Those are all damning for many people but I find the game strangely refreshing, and I found the combat simple but enjoyable. I honestly think the story is serviceable, but Ben Starr really brings incredible life to Clive, better than the character deserved honestly.
All in all, I’ll never forget FF16. so for that reason alone it is one of my favorite FF games.
What are the protests about?
My girlfriend had this issue. They offered her a free battery replacement, a free $100 bucks on the Google store, or another 3rd option I can’t remember. We ended up taking the Google store options despite my feeling that they were sunsetting her phone just because it was old, and she picked up an 8A for 200 bucks less after everything.
Still really bothered by the whole incident. She was really stressed by the whole thing because she needs her phone for work and isn’t techy enough to not expect a phone to just…work. I would really like to know the reason for the incident.
I can get that. I do get claustrophobic IRL but luckily it doesn’t really equate to games, unlike my thalassophobia. I was just happy it was sand and not water
I can handle everything but dark bramble, giants deep and just…anything with open space. I did almost everything on the sand twins tho! That wasn’t too bad at all.
Yep. As far as I know there isn’t even anything dangerous on it but it’s such nightmare energy for me that I will literally run out of the room like a child.
Also, I found that space feels eerily like underwater for me mentally. Fucking terrifying

I agree. The thing that keeps me going is the idea of finding community again.
Not sure how many people in this thread are American, but we have a very independent point of view. The “optimal” way of living is leaving your parents, leaving your home, and building a new home somewhere else. We tend to be more independent overall and less likely to look to others for comfort, to our detriment. At least, that has been my experience.
So I think the best thing to do is go out there, find a community that DOES care. Because they DO exist. Look for hobby classes, look for new friends in your interests, look for a church (if that is your thing. I am UU so the people at those churches are often some of the nicest, most leftist people around).
I’m moving soon, and I think the thing that keeps me going is the idea of finding new community after I move. You can also affect meaningful change as a community when you can’t do it alone.
Another point for Nioh 2. Still the single best souls-like for pure gameplay if you give it the chance.
Yeah this is the sad reality of weeb culture. These are the guys who try to brigade something because a character’s boobs aren’t big enough (see: Tifa in FF7 remake) and are completely, utterly serious. And they don’t understand why none of us can muster even a modicum of respect for their opinions.
That’s the $20 bucks a year price, right? If so, maybe I’ll give it a look when I’m a bit more solvent.
I want to do this so bad because I see cup of the day stuff and think “man that sounds fun” and then I remember it is a subscription (as far as I understand) and I lose interest.

Not that old, but I’ve been playing some Far Cry 5 recently since it went on decent sale for 14 bucks on steam and I was bored.
I remember being amazed at how good far cry 3 had been all those years ago, and I know that pretty much every far cry since has been a similar game with a different skin and some updated mechanics.
The whole “home grown USA cult” does hit a bit more interesting these days, but I honestly keep finding myself shaking my head because it feels like reality is somehow more ridiculous than this far cry game in that essence.
Game is fine, I am enjoying doing the same shooting over and over as a little mental break . I feel like this game is a real missed opportunity not having a set, voiced protagonist. Choosing your blank, voiceless murder machine makes every cutscene awkward because everyone is just talking at you instead of having actual dialogue or growth.
A lot of this games charm comes from the jank. But the magic system is absolute fun.
He made a pretty solid argument (I say this as someone with no interest in CoD so that’s my perspective) that the entire game was the first CoD built with AI “assistance” from the ground up. Probably by force by management.
If I wasn’t already totally uninterested in CoD that video certainly killed any interest I had in it. Kinda refreshing to see someone so vehemently against a shitty product that they feel it is a “moral good” just to tell OTHER PEOPLE not to buy it.
