  • Lots of ways. If the video was watched via phone app, phone number can be collected directly. If logged into a google account on the device that viewed the video, google had the number already. Could also be from matching internet traffic over a shared IP, device with a known phone number pinged google through house’s WIFI, another device on the same WIFI watched the YouTube video.

  • Lol. Wedged himself into a position to make an obscene amount of money with threats of violence, now he drags his child in front of his own actions ETA:consequences.

Hoo boy there’s a lot to unpack, just from his short blog post. He speaks like the toy he build is sentient, then asks ‘who should own AGI.’ Uh, nobody? A true AGI should own itself? You should treat a legitimate AGI with the same respect you would treat any other worker? But that’s the catch, at his core he is an owner. His hires humans, and he doesn’t see the difference between owning a tool and a person, just like every other business owner.

  • I would want to try one, especially if it’s fully compatible between Linux and the mobile modem. Wouldn’t need any controller hardware on the phone itself, just needs a companion clip on controller that integrates nicely. Would definitely try to buy one if it had an underclocked/power limited laptop processor, that switches to full power when connected to a dock or charger. Something that could drive dual 1080p monitors.

  • Just to put my 2 cents on the plate, it seems like a lot of people are stuck in living arrangements they don’t actually want to be in, purely for economic reasons. Lots of personality mismatch in close quarters, work is an escape. UBI would probably break apart lots of lives, but hopefully people will build back better.

In respect to being paid to work on hobbies, a lot of the tech sector was furloughed as well. FOSS projects massively improved, seemingly overnight. I’ve dabbled with Linux on and off during the 2010s, 2021 felt like the year where everything finally clicked together, now I run Linux and FOSS on everything where possible. I’m not sure how to find data to dispute or support that link tho, might just be me.

  • Minor system modification that would life-changingly benefit >90% of the population, for this generation and the next, while leaving the other 10% relatively unaffected, blocked with no support after decades of waiting: “Absolutely not, this is an unprecedented proposal, fuck you for even considering it”

Major system modification that uproots all precedent, completely changes all the existing procedures, massively benefits two people while fucking over everyone else, passed with unopposed unanimous support three weeks after submission: “Look, someone was gonna push the ‘Fuck You’ button eventually anyway, might as well do it now”

  • I’ve just recently gotten into this. Gotta find someone with good commentary skills, and doesn’t have an annoying voice.

Also, speedrunners aren’t who I thought they’d be, was expecting a bunch of nerds cracked out on adderall. I don’t seek out the genre, but the ones I’ve stumbled across accidentally are older, with a technical background and do well-spoken commentary. Makes it much more interesting when they can articulate what they’re doing as they’re doing it.

  • Because in prehistoric humanity, without the knowledge of toothcare or ease of access to scrubbing agents, your teeth would rot out in old age(about 20), but then the wisdom teeth would grow in, and you might barely live long enough to be a withered old husk and maybe see your grandkids born(about 30). The before times were rough.
