Autoionization and the reverse reaction are constantly happening in water, and when the reaction is happening at the same rate forward and backward the system is said to be “at dynamic equilibrium” (aka, stuff is happening, but there’s no net change)

In pure water, the equilibrium concentration of hydronium and hydroxide are equal, so it’s said to be neutral. At room temperature, that equilibrium concentration is approximately 1*10^-7 moles per liter, which gives a pH of 7 (since pH is defined as the negative log _10 of hydronium concentration)

Also, deuterium is a component of heavy water, but the term “deuterium” actually referred to the specific isotope of hydrogen where the nucleus consists of one proton and one neutron, as opposed to a single proton (which is the more common isotope)

Put water with ammonia, and water acts as an acid. Put water with acetic acid, and it acts as a base

I don’t even ever get the physical withdrawals or any noticeable effects, regardless of how often I do or don’t drink it. So, since my partner really does need the coffee first thing in the morning and I’m making it anyway, I usually have a cup because I like the taste and ritual. But when she’s out of town or getting coffee elsewhere, I hardly ever have any caffeine.

The exception is when I was taking Adderall every day, I really did feel some effects from the caffeine, mostly potentiating the amphetamine. I do miss that aspect of being medicated

Fria Liga (aka Free League) has lots of niche tabletop games, although iirc, they focus much more on the RPG side than the wargaming side.

There’s lots of good stuff in the UK that I’ve found by browsing Kickstarter and small independent game shops online. I don’t what you’re into specifically, but there are lots of grimdark Mörk Borg inspired stuff out there right now that use system-agnostic minis for wargaming. Forbidden Psalm is one I’ve been pretty into for a bit, and I think they’re out of the UK.
