I have been gaming since 1992 and building PCs since 2003. I enjoy Linux, supporting FOSS projects and am a tinfoil hat connoisseur.

One of the reasons I prefer GOG is that I don’t want to use a client. I prefer to download offline installers and then run my games through Lutris or Heroic Games Launcher.

postmarketOS@lemmy.ml•Error When trying to Update PinephoneEnglish
1·2 years agoI tried the update command and the repos that the error occur on are
“http:////dl-cdn.alpinelinux.org/alpine/3.19/main”
I don’t get the error on my Pinebook Pro which si also on PostmarketOS 23.12 if that matters.
I love Open Collective and prefer it over any alternative. I will still try to support the individuals who use Liberapay but really like the transparancy of OC for supporting projects.

postmarketOS@lemmy.ml•Is it time to reopen the subreddit?English
3·2 years agoI for one ditched Reddit long ago and am never going back. Not for any project. If they want to have a sub reddit then fine but they better have FOSS options ike Lemmy as well.
The fact that PostmarketOS used anything other than SystemD was a selling point for me. That beign said it seems like it will be optional so at that point I see little reason to be angry.
I could say I know because i’m an elite haxxor but it would be a lie. I’m not even at script kiddie level.
I’ve never had this happen to me but I am always on a a Degoogled version of Android such as GrapheneOS, DivestOS or /e/ OS.
Still using KeepassXC on desktop and laptop and KeePassDX on mobile.

Open Source@lemmy.ml•Please don't use Discord for FOSS projects
172·2 years agoI have never used Discord and never will. No project has ever been able to change my stance on it.
I used the automatic options for disk partitoning so i’m unsure.
A libre version of Devuan. It uses the libre kernel by default and doesn’t ship with any closed source programs or drivers in the repos.
Yep that is accurate.

Privacy@lemmy.ml•Why do password managers charge for TOTP code generation?
1·3 years agoI use KeePassXC which doesn’t charge a cent for this.

5·3 years agoDoes it do this for uBlock Origin ?
I use Pragma-Messenger. It’s based out of Switzerland. Never seen it go down and I use it daily so i’d call it stable. The site’s in German so you may have to use a translate extension in your browser if you don’t read German.

Privacy@lemmy.ml•What is Signal? The basics of the most secure messaging app: Modern phones can easily have multiple messenger apps on themEnglish
11·3 years agoI refuse to give a phone number over to use Signal. I use Session; Matrix; XMPP; and Jami all before I would touch Signal.

Linux@lemmy.ml•What distros would you recommend for use on a (non-gaming) Laptop?
01·3 years agoTrisquel would be my choice although not sure if the Framework wifi is compatible witht he libre kernel. If not I would probably use Linux Mint or Garuda.

I use BTRFS on my Artix system, Ext4 on my Librem 5, Ext4 on my Devuan laptop and Ext4 on my Pinebook Pro. Basically when given the choice in the installer I choose BTRFS but if the installer doesn’t let me pick I don’t care enough to manually partition. I have had no negative experiences with any file system luckily so I just roll with whatever.
