Steam Hardware@sopuli.xyz•Whats the most efficient; Using a fully charged SD when plugged into a 20,000 mah battery bank, or depleting the SD battery then plugging into the bank to continue play?English
7·3 years agoFully charged. The steam deck draws power from AC when the battery is over 90%

5·3 years agoThe only subreddit I miss is combatfootage, and we already have communities that fill that niche, albeit no where near as active

Technology@beehaw.org•Linus responds to The Problem with LMGEnglish
12·3 years agoMyself and the guys I was referring to with crazy hardline loops are on first name basis with Linus, we all played left 4 dead together way back when before he even had a YouTube channel (ClosetGamer, anyone?) so his influence with these type of enthusiasts is still pretty strong, at least here in Canada. However he definitely lost a lot of respect with this response of his but honestly I didn’t expect anything different from him

Technology@beehaw.org•Linus responds to The Problem with LMGEnglish
42·3 years agoThe average consumer wouldn’t buy a block to begin with. I know quite a few guys that have spent thousands on their hardline setups, adding another $1000 CAD is a drop in the bucket to them. There is a market for it, just not a large one
You can use it on pc though.

homeassistant@lemmy.world•Tired of Jeff Bezos controlling your doorbell cam? I made a privacy focused one that's based on an ESP32 with local Home Assistant integration.English
0·3 years agoIt’s the battery. A lot of doorbell cameras have an internal battery to keep the camera powered when the chime is rung. A few of my friends have to replace their unifi doorbell cameras once a year after winter
Agreed. $5 MAYBE, $20 is out to lunch. And a subscription model for full features? Nah get outta here with that, that MIGHT be worth $20. The direction app development has gone over the last few years is a huge disappointment

66·3 years agoTKL keyboards are a lot more ergonomic. Getting a separate mechanical numpad and putting it on the left side of the board also boosts productivity considerably
Puked on my crushes foot at a party a few weeks back. Thankfully she’s cool and we still hang out lol

Technology@beehaw.org•Android to iPhone, whats it like? (Update)English
3·3 years agoSwitched from a pixel 5 to an iPhone 13 Pro 2 years ago when google removed smart home integration from the power menu. Other than the way iOS handles notifications I have no regrets, picked up a 14 pro max a few months ago and have been loving the full days worth of battery life, something I never achieved on any other phone.

Steam Hardware@sopuli.xyz•Soundcore earbuds microphone on Steam DeckEnglish
11·3 years agoNo, it’s working as designed. The 3.5mm Jack also can’t sense if there’s a microphone plugged in with the headphones and just assumes there is, completely disabling the onboard microphone. Which is super annoying if you’re trying to use a pair of sennheisers or something lol. Also by design according to valve engineers

Steam Hardware@sopuli.xyz•Soundcore earbuds microphone on Steam DeckEnglish
1·3 years agoNo. Using the microphone on a Bluetooth headset forces it in to HSP mode due to bandwidth constraints

3·3 years agoYou can get decent ones on Amazon for less than $500. I think I paid like 350 for my 12” deep one, I’ve rotated it every 3 months and it still feels like new a few years later

That’s fair. I was one of the lucky ones and was in the first wave of shipments in late feb/early March. Maybe people that didn’t realize just how extensive a screen replacement would be signed up and ordered one. Hopefully the regular price isn’t much more than the early bird pricing
