Are you running gluetun on docker desktop for windows by chance?
If so, the networking layer for DD is fucked and every new release fucks it further and differently. Make sure you’re not running any other VPNs on the host, restart the docker daemon and pray. And then move off windows before it’s too late.
Source: made the mistake of starting an *arr stack on DD for Windows cause I didn’t wanna figure out GPU pass-through on VMs, and I suffered with this for a year.
I’ve been selfhosting Synapse on Docker Compose for… maybe 1.5 years now? I’m also running bridges. I’ve never had to do monthly maintenance. I have around 20 users (my friends) active daily, a few federated rooms. I have message retention on and it “just worked” for me (not sure why OP had to do extra config)
I only find two of the critiques to be true in my experience:

An acquaintance of mine from university started doing ChatGPT therapy and the confirmation bias machine has fooled him into thinking it loves him and he’s very special and doesn’t need to change anything in his life. It even told him (unemployed and living in his parents basement at 30 with <$2000 in his accounts) he shouldn’t get a job if it would “feel restricting to his creative tendencies”.

Pretty sure the headline was changed by USA Today, based on the page title. Once I figure out how to include an image I’ll add it, but I think when the OP posted this, that was the headline.
There’s also just a fundamental problem with planned economies from a purely economic standpoint: they are much less efficient at actually providing the minimum set of goods and services required by a population, and they’re worse at achieving growth. See the most recent Nobel Prize in economics for a citation. Funnily enough, the same paper’s arguments apply equally to oligarchic economies and crony capitalist economies, which are semi-planned economies by a small group of the ultra wealthy.
More specifically to the OP, communist countries have planned economies, which by nature requires a strong authority to tightly control production. Hence why communist states always have very consolidated political power structures. And once the power is consolidated, all it takes is one bad actor to get that power and ruin everything.
This has also been my personal experience with their brand.
If I’m shopping in a new space where I can’t find a clear winner in reviews, I consider Anker to be the safe bet for a good product. Let’s hope they never logitech themselves.

Jyn had to come to terms with her fathers role in the empire and make choices on how to tackle unclear situations.
The new trilogy featured Rey, who… never changed or grew or really faced any meaningful challenge? She was just… always stronger/better because she just was. It felt more like playing a video game where your character fights increasingly big bad guys but never actually changes skills or unlocks new stuff.

Nifty! I built something similar for my university graduation project. Did a PCB, ESP8266 based as well. Temperature, humidity, sound, vibration, airborne particulate sensor, and some other stuff.
Wrapped a server up in docker for receiving the data, basic dashboard in JS for minor reactivity in components. Never ended up actually doing it cause I didn’t have a consistent host, but maybe I should spin it up again now that I have a home server.
