No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Why don't radar planes crew wear a parachute during combat missions ?
14·2 years agoI can’t speak to a Russian plane but I can speak to it from the US side. Wearing a parachute and survival gear makes it nearly impossible to do your job, you can barely walk around in it. Also If training Russians is anything like the US aircrew’s training, you really only practice using the gear on the ground and once every couple years. Going into a combat zone you don’t expect to have to use it and it’s essentially just sitting there in a closet. And not only do you have to have the presence of mind to put it on, but you have to strap on your crew mates gear as well. Then find the usable door. Then jump out of a plane which you’ve certainly never done before. Unless you’re in a slow controlled descent it’s basically impossible to do

2·3 years agoTo be fair there are workarounds to getting Plex to play locally without Internet (I had to look this up because I didn’t believe you lol) but you have to set it up on the server with internet… I originally started with jellyfin but it was too clunky for me overall, Plex was way more elegant. Also I’m pretty sure Plex deprecated plugins entirely.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Do you think millennials who grew up with the early Internet and home computers will be as bad with future technology as boomers are with current technology?
271·3 years agoMan that is my biggest pet peeve is someone coming to me asking for help saying IT DOESN’T WORK without either trying to figure it out or even doing the tiniest bit or research. It usually takes one single Google search. My mother in law thinks she has the nuclear codes and she’s gonna blow everything up if she touches her laptop wrong
