Technology@lemmy.world•Windows 11 market share falls despite Microsoft ad blitz | Windows 10, on the other hand, managed to grow its share of that marketEnglish
7·2 years agoThis hasn’t happened to me but probably because my computer doesn’t support Windows 11 (it doesn’t support TPM)

3·2 years agoMacs also make you put your password in all the time for updates, installs, etc. Laymen seem to use macs just fine
discimus@mander.xyztoLemmy Support@lemmy.ml•Unfederated lemmy instance, how to pre-subscribe new users to our main communities ?English
5·2 years agoI don’t have an answer to your specific question, but honestly I think learning to subscribe to a community is a really important “tutorial” on using lemmy/reddit. Otherwise they might not understand how to get to each one. You also could just have them look at the local feed so they wouldn’t even need subscriptions.
I personally haven’t used it yet but I believe you can do all this with Matrix (choose your client - probably Element).

Technology@lemmy.world•Bluesky is booming in Japan — mainly for reasons other than U.S. politicsEnglish
783·2 years agoSeems to be mainly because Bluesky is just a better user experience.
Changes in terms of service regarding AI (artificial intelligence), changes in the block feature and the presence of so many bot-like ‘impression zombie’ accounts are viewed negatively by Japanese users
But, X is still incredibly important in Japan and Bluesky isnt a serious threat to it culturally right now.
X is still a major, major news source for Japanese users, so it really won’t slow down anytime soon. Newer platforms like Threads or Bluesky really don’t have any meaningful adoption or use for brand marketing in Japan — yet
The japanese philosophy of Kintsugi may help you look at things differently. Impurities are what make us all unique. Nothing in nature is perfect.

Games@lemmy.world•Day 129 of posting a Daily Screenshot from the games I’ve been playing until I forget to post ScreenshotsEnglish
4·2 years agoWow that bug sounds wicked annoying. Sorry about that. I love uncharted 4. Since you’re playing on crushing I assume you’ve already played it? I want to replay sometime soon. I haven’t since it came out actually; I played twice in a row but haven’t since. My main gripe with it (the most probably think of as a positive) is that there aren’t enough combat encounters.

25·2 years agoAny infinite group applies to this too. The group of integers, real numbers, etc. are infinite. Just add 1 👍

Socks are always a good stocking stuffer. Also candy, bathroom products, cards, etc.
