It’s pretty unbeatable to use LLMs for fast prototyping and query generation, but “vibe coding” is not something just anybody can (or should) do.

It seems to me that the world of LLMs gives back at the quality you put in. If you ask it about eating rocks and putting glue on pizza then yes it’s a giant waste of money. If you can form a coherent question that you have a feeling for what the answer is like (especially related to programming) it’s easily worth the hype. Now if you are using it blindly to build or audit your code base that falls into the first category of “you should not be using this tool”.

Unfortunately, my view before and after the emergence of LLMs is that most people are just not that bright. Unique and valuable, sure, but when it comes to expertise it just isnt as common as the council of armchairs might lead you to believe.

I think the most likely answer is that it’s a non-euclidean space.

It sounds like you are already doing it! Fixing annoying stuff as it comes up feels painful and tedious, but that’s the good instruction you’ll remember. Hopefully you aren’t hitting too many work stoppage type issues. Definitely reach out for help for those, but be prepared for uptight people to tell you “RtFm noOB”. You’ll get it done.

My only advice is to give a little bit of time to learning at least basic bash commands (search and print a cheat sheet) and basic Vi / Vim. Vim is what got me to Linux in the first place to be honest. Those 2 things will give you the latitude to move around and work on any issue you might come across as any user even if you “break” something.

I don’t think you can argue that it’s mathematically equivalent. Just because space and time become so spread that they are effectively meaningless is not the same as them having not meaningfully existed and then existing. Neither can you really say that since any baryons that have not decayed are so far apart none of them interact that they behave like the concentration of all matter in the known universe. At those scales of time I’m not even sure that there are any left.

It’s like arguing that one tiny piece of something in one place is the same as all the matter and all of space and time being in one place: it’s I guess analogous but not equivalent. I will of course caveat and say that my undergrad physics degree did not cover end of the universe timelines lol. Kurzgesagt does have a video though.

The cyclical universe approach as I understand it is predicated on an eventual big crunch which I don’t think is being argued anymore.
