It would be like a quantum computer breaking Bitcoin and so we fall back on Ethereum.

55·7 days agoInfinite gold would be useful for electronics, but it would destroy gold’s utility as a long-term store of value. So the wealth for shareholders would be finite, taken from today’s gold holders.

1·8 days agoDefine “live”. I wouldn’t be surprised if we sent a handful of people at a time for one-way trips in the medium future.
Guess who that someone is
I’ll be the person to answer vibe code.
- I’d rather rewrite either from scratch,
- nobody will blame me for throwing it out, and
- it’s presumably in a language I can learn more easily, or already know.

31·18 days agoI got my current job by applying on LinkedIn. IMHO it’s very easy to do a “shotgun method” (many applications/day at low effort) because my work history is entered onto LinkedIn once, instead of re-entering my resume on 100 different websites.
Is there an alternative way to avoid re-entering my resume for each job application? Could I get an AI agent to do it or something? I’m not looking to argue, I legit want to find a better strategy.

27·23 days agoWhenever I go on one of my anti-car rants and somebody defensively announces they’re a car guy, ready to fight, I just explain that I’m the traffic. The roads should be left to the car guys. It literally always goes over smoothly. Suddenly, they like train infrastructure because it frees up the scenic mountain roads.
$375k is an absurd amount of money to most people. They’d only have to sell a little to get back on their feet, and then they’d have some decent savings left.
