IDK how feasible (or desirable) a global embargo would be, but I sure hope (and at the same time duobt) that the EU has learned that appeasing bullies leads to more bullying.

Have you ever wondered what would happen if a childish gangster was elected president of the US?

It seems this is the time of diplomacy though vague threats, which further blurs the line between nation states and criminal organizations.

TBH it’s not like a condemnation would make any difference… it would only enrage emperor Trump and expose EU countries (and possibly Ukraine) to his majesty’s retaliations.
The sad truth is that - regardless of Trump - Europe can’t currently afford to piss off the US… so the only response can be putting on a good face, buying time, and growing stronger for next time.
This is not to say that all EU leaders are actually playing the long game (eg. Italy’s Melony said that US attack on Venezuela was a legitimate act of self defense) and, no, I’m not gonna shed any tears for Maduro or his regime.
Israel, well known for respecting people’s rights, will surely politely comply with this polite request.
BTW: the “article” is from last week and literally consists of 2 lines…

That’s what you get when the social norm allows people to openly discriminate against (among others) LGBT people.
We should all start calling out idiocy whenever we encounter it (for one, I am guilty of just ignoring it to avoid conflict more often than not).

Definitely a big beautiful deal, just not beautiful for the EU (or… humanity at large)

Well, Georges Ibrahim Abdallah is not the kind of “political prisoner” who is in prison for what they said or wrote… he was in prison for participating in actual assassinations (also, being 74 and having served some 41 years in detention, he has probably been an inmate long enough).
That said, being questioned for praising assassins seems a bit much… I mean, do they for example question everyone who praises Netanyahu or Putin (or any other of the too many bloodthirsty butchers that play into current geopolitical events)?
It must be noticed that the article is far from impartial and that its aim is creating a scandal rather than informing its readers, so it’s difficult to comment on the whole thing based solely on its contents.

Doesn’t matter: there is just no way EU members would agree on sanctioning Israel.

What’s the point? Is that a legally binding contract? What penalties are there if you breach it?
I’d say it’s just social engineering because they have a low bandwidth connection (for the number of users).
Disclaimer: I do find it’s extremely rude to overuse a shared internet connection, regardless of what use you make of it.

I won’t buy any paradox games because they invariably end up with 100 DLCs each

even the worst corporations are on the right side of something from time
Well, corporations (best and worst) are always on their own side… which sometimes happens to be the same as their customers’ :)

With something so niche as pico-8, you are probably better off just biting the bullet… In your shoes I’d investigate if there are viable FOSS alternatives and, failing that, just fork the 15USD the developer of PICO-8 asks for.

I have four accounts on the four instances that host communities I am interested in.
It’s a mild pain and definitely not what we were promised, but I guess that’s the only way federation can really work in practice (especially considering when an instance is blocked user on the blocker side just continue to see it frozen in time, with no warning as to what’s going on)

Why do you care how it turns out financially for reddit? The outcome I’d wish for is that more people come to lemmy

Those are CPU from, like, 2014… they are definitely “beefy” (ie. needlessly powerful regardless of what you plan to do with them) but not more powerful than modern mid-range CPUs (which have way lower TDP).
This is not to mean that the server is necessarily a bad deal (how much is it?)… there’s lot of stuff on top of the CPU, but you should definitely factor in the electricity cost (especially if you are not the one paying for it and/or are sensitive to climate issues) and see if you can maybe buy a more “humble” server with a modern CPU and fewer, bigger drives (each hdd consumes more or less the same amount of power, regardless of capacity).
Oh, make sure to check if those old CPUs have hardware-accelearted video codecs if you plan to do transcoding!
Also, make sure to compare prices from ebay.
I can’t wait. Then I’ll start waiting for Fico. Then I’ll wait for the EU to devise some sort of way to defend against traitors.
