So the people struggling to lose weight just don’t actually want to lose weight? There are no psychological factors involved at all, no hormones, genetics, environmental factors, education - nothing to figure out?

That’s a bit like saying “In order to run faster, you need to make longer steps and more steps per minute”. It’s obviously true, but the hard part is how to do that.
but you should not consider faulty business logic as an optional fix
The same goes for unreadable/unmaintainable code (though that’s a bit harder).

Patient Gamers@sh.itjust.works•Weekly Recommendations Thread: What are you playing this week?
7·2 months agoTagPro - looks like a really simple webgame, but is honestly one of the best games I’ve ever played. Extremely simple rules, but hard to master. A lot of skillful plays, but also a lot of choas and fun. The community is overall nice and positive (sometimes individual players get a bit frustrated).
If you want to give it a try, go ahead - no account needed. Currently, only the US servers seem to be busy.
What about dystopian surveillance tech?
The “jeans and (white) shirt” tier seems to be missing.

Which ones can you recommend? I mean, my reading list is already too long but…
Write your code as if the next person that works with it is a violent psychopath who knows where you live.

6·1 year agoThat probably depends on which constitution you’re talking about ;)
But I wonder if “for-profit organization may not use recommendation algorithms” would be constitutional in e.g. EU countries.

World News@lemmy.world•Russia loses 2,000 troops in highest death toll for a single dayEnglish
593·1 year agoI get the sentiment that the Russian people are responsible for their government. But repression in Russia goes far beyond “a couple of arrests and beatdowns” - they are openly killing people, torturing them, putting them in labor camps and throwing them behind bars for years or decades for very minor stuff.

It’s easier finding bugs than producing correct, readbale, maintainable code though-
