World News@lemmy.ml•AfD plans to turn Germany into authoritarian state, vice-chancellor warns
45·2 years agoDerailing from what?
It’s funny that you asked. Kinda shows that you didn’t even read the title of the post, let alone the article. It’s just “yeah, German politics, let me write what bothers me!!”

Linux@lemmy.ml•Ranking Linux Distributions for 2024: a tier list for my use case !
61·2 years agoWhat you’re saying is that the author has made such a revolutionary video that solves problems no other video can solve, that in 30 years this video will be maintained by some of the most brilliant minds on Earth. In other words, the analogy is really, really bad.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Ranking Linux Distributions for 2024: a tier list for my use case !
4·2 years agoHow’s it worse or better than some no name’s ranking? At least it’s not a 20-minutes video for something that could be a 10 items list.

Haha, damn, that’s creative.
I’m stupid. Last week, my rss reader lost all my subscriptions. Or so I thought. I’ve just noticed that I was logged in under a different account…

Technology@beehaw.org•OpenAI Quietly Deletes Ban on Using ChatGPT for “Military and Warfare”
2·2 years agoThat explains it. Microsoft wants to cash in on their massive investment in OpenAI by embedding ChatGPT into every bit of software they can.
Given how slow and laggy ChatGPT4 is, they’re running ahead of the train. Ultimately, this will lead existing customers to competitors.
What makes you think the result will satisfy your needs? It probably wont, and it definitely won’t satisfy the needs of many other people. We have two major DE based on different toolkits, following different philosophies, having different looks and feels. This is good. You can choose. Or you can pick another DE or WM. That’s why Linux is so attractive.
I think if you have no answer, it could be that NixOS doesn’t solve any problem for you. In effect, it’s not better. Don’t buy into social media hype. It’s just a tool like any other.

Technology@beehaw.org•OpenAI says it’s “impossible” to create useful AI models without copyrighted material
3·2 years agoNot all creators are orcs, of course. But people who don’t understand deliberately exaggerated comparisons might be. I believe that you understood my point. Don’t start arguing over nothing.
Duolingo isn’t a good resource for learning a language, it’s focus is user retention
These two statements contradict each other. To learn a language you must practice it every day, week after week, month after month. It’s an appropriate application of addictive game mechanics, because our motivation doesn’t last long: 1-3 months for most people.
Duolingo might not be the best place to learn some languages (e.g. German), but it can be a very helpful tool for everyday practice. And stuff like streaks, leagues, and other things are rather helpful.

What else bothers you? Why don’t we discuss under the post about AfD that the weather in Poland could be better in Junary, and then blame me for deflecting from the very real issue of bad weather in Poland in January, eh?
