3 months agoThe $20B was printed by JPMorgan Chase bankers so that Jared Kushner and the Saudis could buy EA at 45% off. In return, the saudis promise that they can siphon $20B from fired workers back to the bankers over the next ~10 years.

3·5 months agoAbout Active Directory in 2025: Red Hat has good LDAP support. Also, with modern web apps its not really necessary to use ldap for the local user. My past 4 jobs have not used AD login on Windows. Albeit they were all small to medium sized businesses.
All the large businesses I have worked for are also looking into Macs and Linux for their employees.
It’s definitely a challenge to move from windows but it would be malpractice to not investigate it.

EU exports to the US are as big as China. And that’s not including Norway and Switzerland.
Also, the EU imports twice as much as China, the incredibly valuable US tech sector is heavily dependent on the EU.
The US is screwed if they keep pissing off Europe like this.

The only thing similar that I have experienced in Europe is the protected food name law, e.g. Champagne and Parmesan, but that’s an EU cultural protectionism law that the US doesn’t actually follow.

Yes but some of the people criticizing Lee may be Swedish or another culture that has the same view about public character assassination.
In some cultures, including Sweden, it’s not considered proportional to attack someone’s reputation publicly, even when they do abusive things. Here, the proper response would be to report the post to mods and to the police, and let them see over the punishment.

According to Calyx, the issue is that AOSP does not support any phones out of the box anymore, even though AOSP 15 supported Pixel phones out of the box. Graphene speculates that this may be a proactive measure preparing for an Android/Pixel split in a future Google antitrust break up.
It’s not the death of Calyx and Graphene, but it is a symptom of the dire state of AOSP. OSes like Sailfish, Purism, and PostmarketOS need to see better support and provide viable alternatives to proprietary OSes like Android and iOS.
Yes, it’s a loan so big that normal personal finance “savings and loans” rules don’t really apply. This loan is 3X EA’s entire revenue, 2X Nintendo’s entire revenue. Basically an entire new game-publisher’s worth of money flowed into the gaming industry to exert dictatorial control over EA. JPMorgan Chase just have to make sure that they get their money back from the EA employees they just helped the Saudis buy.
