  • “The exact technical mechanism remains under investigation, though the compromise occured at the hosting provider level rather than through vulnerabilities in Notepad++ code itself. Traffic from certain targeted users was selectively redirected to attacker-controlled served malicious update manifests.”

Fuckall they could really have done about it other than changing host providers, which they mentioned they already have as a result.

  • There are a lot of Americans who are learning American politics against their will at the moment too(their ignorance seems willful and self-imposed in many instances); hopefully enough of them to not support the insanity in the future.

    • “But Trump said he would help union jobs”

    • “But they were just supposed to go after the bad minorities, not my group”

    • “But tarrifs don’t raise prices for Americans, they promised”

    • “But why can we pay $50k sign on bonuses for ICE but not fund education or healthcare?”

    • “But that’s against the law, I thought they supported the 2nd amendment?”

    • “But they’re being violent toward white people too, I thought my group was safe”

    • “But they said they hated paedophiles and wanted to punish them and that they would release the Epstein files”

    • “But Trump said he would end the Ukraine war in 24 hours”

    • “Why can’t I get vaccinated and get my kid vaccinated in some states?”

    • “But they defunded my X when they said they were only going to defund Y”

    • “But that hurts my business, I bought their line that…”

    • “Well I thought they were just going to take away abortions from and track poor, minority group women from having abortions, my case is different”

    • "Why is my USD currency value crashing? Why are the trump coin crypto I bought not able to be sold, Trump has discretion on the lockup period and gets to decide who sells and when?

    • "Why do billionaires seem to be doing really well and at lots of events with the administration and everyone else doesn’t seem very happy?

    • But laws shouldn’t be used only against certain people, don’t they apply to everyone in a system where money equals power?

  • The analytics are overblown, and coaches need to get back to the big picture. Stanford traded Hollins at the deadline for Wu, but picked up the player option on Candell for the 4th year. The performance bonus if they make the all-star team should provide enough motivation to ensure they don’t get saddled with a mid-career ball hog. Team chemistry will be key, hopefully during the preseason they can get it together and not have any niggling injuries interrupt. There is concern about the defensive strategy on set plays, their specialist Franco just had their contract waived and stretched under the current contract, so the team may look to the transfer market mid season when it opens, or potentially to move up in the spring draft to fill needs. Still can’t believe they traded Simpson and pay 2.7 per year for Johnson.

Universities run by MBAs and academics operating like sports franchises.Meanwhile, they’re arresting students in campus for protesting genocide and fascism.

    Seems legit.

  • How are they tackling the drivers of the downfall of society; the evaporating social safety net, and aggressively underpaying the employed thanks to oligarchs? Foreign wealth buying up real estate? Polluters poisoning the water, the air?

Will these super expensive new measures go after and hold accountable at all, the wealthy?

    No? I’m shocked.

Remember, crime is only for the poor.

The approach to limit complexity and scope in jobs to lower the educational or skill requirements (and transparently by companies resulting compensation) guarantees siloed work. Not only to people have a limited understanding of the work they’re doing and how it connects but they have NO idea what other people are doing, or why–and that’s even within the same department or function.

You’re only thinking of the morality side of it.

It’s also wrong because they work for a company that probably says subordinate-supervisory relationships are forbidden because of the power imbalance and complications around how a personal relationship–or even the perceptions of one-- might affect workplace decisions–to say nothing of the invitation of harassment lawsuits. Co-workers–even non-supervisory-- who might even be at the same “level” or their work brings them together for anything can be incredibly problematic. All of this is even at a local, department or site level to say nothing of C-level consequences. This also says nothing of the fact that one of them is in charge of the function, HR, who would be the person most responsible for ensuring this kind of conduct didn’t happen between employees. The hypocrisy and abdication of duty couldn’t be more severe. Both have lost all credibility with anyone in their company, which means they cannot lead others.

  • Right, and part of the problem is these hawks (the kind who own 2400 pubs) would then fly in with that much more VC$ and scoop up 5x that amount if something like this passed(which is of course why they’re the ones suggesting it). I’m all for the idea, but big companies don’t get little guy breaks for the 1-2 pub proprietor, they can play with the adults and take the loss with that kind of operation and revenue. If their business model is literally “we can’t turn a profit–we’ll make it up in volume” they have issues that shouldn’t necessitate corporate welfare.
