When my Sliger SM550 proves too small for my next graphic card purchase (probably a while, on a 3080), I will probably look to Fractal Design unless there’s better cottage maker.
Something about the way the cases look is appealing, but there’s always been something small about them that hasn’t worked for my builds.
I do listen to music for several hours every day, and tend to buy an album about once every 3-4 weeks. But my pool of music now is very deep with albums, probably not as wide as most algorithm/streaming services could provide. Its a slow build though, I’ve been accumulating albums at about $10-20/month since COVID (and had a bunch of pirated stuff before then). On Bandcamp that amount can get you 1 or 30 albums depending on the artist.
As a a critic though you definitely are under different circumstances and I understand why streaming is probably hard to escape from. I still prefer when artists have their own websites but that comes with its own set of challenges! Luckily my national radio (Triple J, Australia) has it’s own artist platform for up and comers (Unearthed).
Yeah that’s fair. I suppose I haven’t really considered that because I treat Bandcamp as a storefront only, and download + maintain my library locally. So if the servers died tomorrow the only thing I’d lose is the ability to purchase. In some ways the great fracturing of online platforms is bound to be a net positive for most communities.
It is, but if you only purchase on Bandcamp Friday then the platform doesn’t take a cut of the sales.
I know many people feel entrapped by streaming services, but I switched to Bandcamp like 10 years ago and have never been happier with my music habits. I buy music I like on Bandcamp Friday and store it locally on my PC/phone. Load up and take away as needed.
Sure, it’s a bit more effort to purposefully seek new music, but I love that process. Makes it a very deliberate listening experience.
Where I live, you have boring reused English place names like Brighton and Canterbury, and then much more distinguishable and interesting place names from the indigenous peoples like Dandenong and Bullengarook. When you learn the interpreted history of the name, I really appreciate the name more. Dandenong is thought to have come from Tanjenong, which means “lofty mountains.”
Then there are some bastardisations - what is now known as Toorak is from the word Turrak, which means “reedy grass”
Indigenous culture here is so willfully ignored and diminished by so many people. I think it’s really cool that we do have some ongoing reference to the oldest continuous culture in the world, even if it only comes up in meme culture as a funny haha :)
Because males as a term had not picked up culturally loaded meaning from those who would exploit them.

You’re bang on. It’s called MaxDiff. I use it frequently in my line of work to prioritise product or service messaging with panel data. It’s better in some cases to use Inferred preference rather than stated, but generally good to keep the options comparable in “size” of offer.
I would never interpret a MaxDiff model low end result as “wow, 5% of people want slower browsers.” Instead I’m focusing on the top cluster. As with any model, they’re only ever so accurate. Don’t read into the questions too much.
It’s an Inferred importance method, as other users have commented it is likely that there are some calibration metrics in there. MaxDiff is the name of the approach if you want to check out more.
And I’m sure inevitably, the site will become harder to run as more and more companies enter the shit list. Over time - features will be cut to save effort. List entry will be out sourced. The company itself, of course, will not see the irony. Finally - a new website emerges to track the enshittification of enshittification tracking websites. And the prophecy continues.
I miss that game. Not much tickles the same creativity and playfulness that I’ve tried since then. I used to spend hours in the level creator doing dumb stuff.
WYSIWYG is also pretty common these days for tabletop gaming, with regard for models using the rules for whatever weapons or equipment they are actually holding. This came around as often people build the model one way (e.g. with a machine gun) before a rule change, after which they want to use the better rules without re-doing the model (e.g. with a flamethrower).

Plus rabbits love cardboard. Toilet rolls and plain boxes get your surprisingly far with two rabbits! The only toys I’ll buy are the edible ones - willow tunnels for example. Watching them play with something you make is part of the joy.

I think this is true for most people on Lemmy. But I do wonder what the average streaming users will do. What about “free” streaming platforms like Channel 4 in the UK? Content is king, and the path of least resistance will always trump.
Proud to say I accomplished that! My dad trained a fair bit. I did like 1 10km walk the week before we started, and I finished the 800kms with no real dramas, except the first day which was a massive climb. After 5-6 days my body was totally accustomed to the task at hand.
(Super irrelevant to the post but it was an awesome experience and I would advocate anyone to undertake it, regardless of your thoughts on religion. I am not religious but did find it spiritual in a way. I did it about 6 years ago and still think about it every week.)
