Nix / NixOS@programming.dev•Feedback Wanted on my NixOS ConfigEnglish
1·11 months agoimo flakes are as hard to get into as the ‘normal way’ if youre starting from scratch. Switching over is easier, you’ll need to change quite a bit, but its a lot of boilerplate mostly. All in all I agree with the first comment tho, its worth it.
Other than that, looks good if its all working for you!

Piracy: ꜱᴀɪʟ ᴛʜᴇ ʜɪɢʜ ꜱᴇᴀꜱ@lemmy.dbzer0.com•New to Soulseek, can you share files without port forwarding?English
7·2 years agoMy understanding is that one of the two people involved in the exchange needs to have ports forwarded. So you just have access to less files and less people have access to your files

Linux@lemmy.ml•is there an arch Fork where I can compile every package myself?
4·2 years agoDoes sound like what youre looking for is gentoo. Packages may be a little older than arch, but its a rolling release too. You get new stuff fast

Nix / NixOS@programming.dev•A lot of dependence on GithubEnglish
5·2 years agoI dont really have enlightenment for you unfortunately.
As someone else pointed out, in terms of fork i think what there is out there currently is lix as an alternative to cppNix, and i think auxolotl is planning on replacing nixpkgs/nixos

Nix / NixOS@programming.dev•A lot of dependence on GithubEnglish
9·2 years agoWhile i get the concern and am not a fan of this myself. What youre asking for is a tall order. You could host a mirror yourself on an alternative that suits you (realistically there are probably already mirrors though i havent checked)

Linux@lemmy.ml•There are only 4 serious consolidated Linux Distros: Fedora, OpenSuse, Debian, Ubuntu
5·2 years agoUnless idk what consolidated mean, ubuntu shouldnt be in there, and arch and nix would be included no?
Its the default behaviour for firefox. Normally you have to disable with by tweaking browser.gesture.swipe.left/right in about:config
Got like all my redneck family members to download this and they love it so much
Yeah im at a fairly small company with a boss that cares about that kinda stuff more than me so its not very hard to enforce

Love Misterio77’s configs. Both this and his main config! I’ll take a look at yours!
My hardware.nix uses disko, which is probably why its different. The pateC config isnt used anymore and im currently adding my other new machine, but im needing to rewrite some code, so the laptape hardware.nix is probably the better example.
Basically my actual formatting is in /disks/*
