TFL did a study related to this which was cited when Wales set the default speed to 20.

They found that there was minimal difference in emissions between the two speeds. Any benefit of lower drag etc is countered by the fact that the engine is not geared well for 20 so generally it will be the same or only slightly better doing 20. (I am making the assumption here that lower emissions will equal less fuel usage.)

However, the greatest benefit is that there are less cars on the road because it encourages active travel and discourages driving. So comparing driving to not at all is a huge fuel difference.

Pretty much all of the progressive parties in my constituency have been selling themselves as the “tactical choice”, despite there being a new proportional voting system in Wales that doesn’t really allow that.

The Greens seem to be the worst for it, to the point of citing a poll back in January that said they were neck and neck with Reform for the last seat. You would expect better from them really, its kinda putting me off.

They must be targeting specific areas. So far I have got about 6-8 things from Green (including one glossy magazine type thing), and they are the only party I have seen door knocking. Reform I have only got the one “letter” - in an envelope I assume because they are the most disliked party and they are getting this happening often.

Just to clarify, would you mean to have the email/validate stage as part of the flow to access the app, or let them continue with just the email with a limited functionality?

Compared to login or password reset, you rarely see the email validate before register flow, especially for mobile apps etc. That makes it pretty hard to make the case that this needs to be actioned from a security perspective when even the big companies are not following it either.

I was having a chat about this with a UX guy. His argument for using a similar flow was that the username/email will have to be validated at the point of registration anyway so you might as well make it easier for the user when the email is wrong. I couldn’t really refute this logic.

If you throttle both login and registration, then surely the risk is minimised while keeping the user happy?

Tap and go has been super nice in South Wales. It makes things so much easier and cheaper too. My only fear with this announcement is that it doesn’t sound like it covers too large of an area so it could be that you still have to get tickets if you are traveling between local cities. This ideally needs to be on a national level, but I doubt that would happen considering how fragmented our public transport system is.

What difference are they expecting compared to the last time they investigated the exact same chant? Maybe because it is a different police force, they are wanting another pop at it? Surely that just a waste of resources.

Even if there is a investigation, it’ll probably go in a similar direction as the Russia Report a few years ago: stalled, played around like a political football, then forgotten about, or anything meaningful being “out of scope”.

I’ve got a similar model. Build quality is pretty good. Although I have had issues with the speakers and one of the charging ports (there is redundancy here tho as it comes with 2 USBC). Chassis is all aluminium. Not sure exactly the touchpad material - probably plastic, with no haptics.

Overall the design is modelled on Macbooks with great screens and similar shape, but with handy extras like some actual ports.

They are just white-labeled from other companies so you might be able to find them cheaper, but overall they are sold at a fair price compared to mainstream brands.

You would’ve thought that he would have enough enough money and influence from being Chancellor not to have to sell himself out. I guess he just wants to chase the power.

This happens in Cardiff quite often, also in the direction of the stadium. It seems to be caused by grow lights on the pitch which encourages the grass to grow faster.
