24·2 years agoCanned goods are non-perishable. Used needles carry contaminate. One is useful, the other isn’t.

You joke, but a calcified fetus in the womb for years is possible. It was a bizarre read, i don’t remember the condition’s name.
Your comment reads far more arrogant than the one you responded to.
Lol is everyone who pushes your buttons a nazi?

Technology@lemmy.world•YouTube creator sues Nvidia and OpenAI for ‘unjust enrichment’ for using their videos for AI trainingEnglish
2·2 years agoPeople were also a lot more open to their data being used by machine learning because it was used in universally appreciable tasks like image classification or image upscaling; tasks no human would want to do manually and which threatens nobody.
The difference today is not the data used, but the threat from the use-case. Or, more accurately, people don’t mind their data being used if they know the outcome is of universal benefit.

41·2 years agoThe issue isn’t the final, individual art pieces, it’s the scale. An AI can produce sub-par art quickly enough to threaten the livelyhood of artists, especially now that there is far too much art for anyone to consume and appreciate. AI art can win attention via spam, drowning out human artists.

21·2 years agoCDs are technically better for perfect reproduction. I still prefer vinyl for most pre-80s material because of the loudness war. Mastering of releases has warped the discussion entirely

Why would we have the word “assassination” if it’s just murder? The word was invented to fill a linguistic need.
While the practical event is the exact same, its implications to the currently living are distinct. Saying this is an assassination communicates that this murder is unique, and should be thought of in a different context than most murders.
