Stopped using Reddit when the API disaster happened. Switched to Lemmy and stayed there for about 2 years. Now, I’m experimenting with Piefed.

- old quote from somewhere
If you happen to live under a dictatorship, you really need even more privacy, because you can’t trust the intentions of the local oppression forces.
When there’s a will, there’s a way.
Makes me wonder how these mice reach for the pitchers, bowls, cups, and anything above. So much of the kitchen is unavailable to them unless they have a ladder somewhere.
Regardless, a lovely picture. Love the art style.

Linux@programming.dev•Linux Mint isn't the answer for Windows refugees anymoreEnglish
6·3 months agoI think it really depends on the type of refugee we’re talking about here.
If they’re interested in tinkering, the starting point doesn’t really matter that much. Just let the refugee know that distrohopping is allowed. If you hear that some new distro has an awesome feature, give it a go.
If we’re talking about a person who hates tinkering and tweaking, the first distro suddenly begins to matter a lot more. That’s the distro they will be stuck with for several years, so Mint is definitely a solid option. Actually, most distributions that are Debian or Ubuntu based should be fine.

Well, that’s awesome. I’ve been keeping an eye on Jolla phones for a while now. When they launched the pre-order campaign, I almost bought one. Then, I realized that I have some picky apps I really need, and those probably won’t run on Sailfish. They don’t run on Lineage, so why would they run on the android thing (emulation, sandbox, something) in Sailfish?
I think I’ll still need to read more from people who have been daily driving Sailfish. It would be fantastic if I could ditch my big mobile spyware.
