You mean base-10? My totally unrealistic pipe dream would be to have the world switch to base-12.
I put the “disco” in “disconnecting from reality”.

DeGoogle Yourself@lemmy.ml•Probably a stupid question, but what can I do to 'degoogle' a Google Pixel 8?English
2·2 years agoI’ve found that the Proton apps do a decent job of replacing Google’s suite of apps like Drive, Mail and Calendar.

Proton @lemmy.world•Proton Pass is now available on macOS, Safari, and LinuxEnglish
131·2 years agoThis is awesome! I’ll keep my fingers crossed for a Linux implementation of Proton Drive next!
I’m in the same boat as you. I tried running Bazzite a while back. Most of my Linux experience has been with Pop!_OS, and gaming didn’t seem easier than what I was used so, because Pop is already ridiculously easy to run. I’d love to know what I’m missing.

Privacy@lemmy.ml•GrapheneOS Now Supports a Duress Reset PINEnglish
4·2 years agoYou’re not wrong, but like the duress pin, it would be a nice feature to have. Not everyone would have to set a duress fingerprint, just the people who find value in it.
I really hope the visibility created by being ported to other distros will allow for more applet development.

4·2 years agoThe Proton Drive app can automatically sync pictures from your phone. The Proton ecosystem as a whole is a good alternative to Google’s.

8·2 years agoCool feature, I wonder if a duress fingerprint will be introduced in the future?
The upcoming Cosmic desktop by Pop!_OS has the exact feature you’re describing.

Firefox@lemmy.ml•Does anyone here have experience with Firefox Relay's paid Phone number aliases?English
5·2 years agoI was really intrigued by the phone mask offering, but you are limited to 75 texts a month, and 50 minutes of talk time. Given other limitations of the service, I think it’s a far better deal to just get a fully pledged phone plan from someone like Mint mobile.

KOReader is a pretty decent ereader option, it matches what I put on my Kobo.

7·2 years agoI doubt many people will be willing to de-bloat their WIndows install, because there is a lot of overlap between the type of person that would be willing to go through all the hurdles of de-bloating, and the type of person that is already on Linux.

Steam Hardware@sopuli.xyz•Steam Deck game library now 29% larger than that of Nintendo SwitchEnglish
31·2 years agoMy wife adamantly refused to get a Steam Deck for herself, saying that she would never give up her Switch.
Cut to one year out from buying one for her, and the Switch has been in a bin almost the entire time.

2·2 years agoI start with Subscribed/Active to get my fix for the content I want to see, and then Subscribed/New to contribute comments that aren’t parroting what others have already said.
This might be wishful thinking, but I’ve been so excited to how Project Virgo turns out. An in-house design from System76 would be amazing, and I hope more info is released soon.
This looks amazing!! I’ve been too timid to mod mine, but this might convince me…

Lemmy seems a lot less toxic than Reddit. Every now and then I see comments here of people that are assholes, but its not the norm. Whenever I would check the comment feeds in Reddit, so many of them devolve into petty bickering. It seemed like a quarter of the user base set out that day to either be pissed off, or to piss someone else off.
