Bolt is Estonian. Their app lets you order and pay for taxis, e-bikes and probably scooters as well. I use them regularly.

Taxis? You know, the regulated alternative that’s not in the process of doing a bait and switch by selling services at a loss until competition dies and then increase the prices.

The problem with traditional taxis is that after booking them, you have no indication of when they will show up and along the way, you mostly have no information about the cost. Same thing if you get a taxi on the street without pre booking. You have no idea of the resulting price.

Hell yeah, public transport and biking are always my preferred options. You should do the same if viable, if not, demand for it

In order to follow your statement, I’ll have install and create an account, just to have it deleted? I’d rather just never register with them.

It seems like even though they say your account was deleted, it’s still recoverable (by clicking cancel), which means, at this point it wasn’t deleted.

This seems like a confirmation popup, according to the reduced brightness. While the cancel button is still visible, you won’t be able to tap it and even if you could, it won’t work because the account actually got deleted after selecting “Delete Account”. And of course also because you’re going to be logged out, as the message says. I have never used Uber, let alone deleted an account there, so I may be wrong, but I’m fairly certain that the account actually got deleted at that point, if my assumptions are correct.

What happened or what new revelation is there that everyone must delete now as opposed to weeks or months ago? I never have had an under account, just curious as to what may have changed.

    Must delete?

I’m not much into must do, this or that. Thx.

Or if we are to tell people what they should do: why not trash the phone itself? Uber is but one minor symptom of much deeper issues, all related to phone usage and ownership. Get rid of the main cause, not of a symptom ;)

This line of reasoning just leads to inaction. You will always find bigger problems to be tackled. We typically start from small actions, and eventually build up momentum and goodwill for bigger changes.

My main point (the second one was kind of ironic, something online don’t play nice with alas I tend to forget about that) is still that it should be to anyone to decide what they should and should not do ;)
