Ukraine has officially dismissed Russian claims alleging that Ukrainian forces are preparing attacks on Russia from Latvian territory, calling them part of a disinformation campaign aimed at destabilizing the Baltic region.

“There is no truth in Moscow’s latest set of falsehoods accusing Ukraine of preparing attacks against Russia from the territory of Latvia. We officially refute them. Ukraine does not use the territory or airspace of Latvia in its operations against Russia and does not intend to do so,” Tykhyi stressed.
He added that Russia’s statements are part of a broader propaganda effort aimed at undermining public trust in Latvia and the wider Baltic region.
“We thank our Latvian friends for seeing right through them,” he said.

Latvia’s UN representative Sanita Pavļuta-Deslandes responded to Russian allegations and threats saying:
“I will just repeat that lies and aggressive disinformation and threats are a sign of despair and weakness, and we have seen similar lies addressed against other members of this council in the previous meetings, so I’m very honoured to have the attention drawn to my country today.”
In a notable intervention, US representative Tammy Bruce stood up for Latvia, warning Russia that “There is no place for threats against a Council member” and the US keeps its NATO commitments. More about what was said at the UNSC meeting is available here.
